MS. PATRICIA A. KING, RN

Ms. Patsy King joined the FACE the Challenge Board of Directors in March 2006. She came highly-recommended by those who have worked with her in the operating room. She obtained a diploma from HealthONE Presbyterian/St. Luke's (PSL) School of Nursing in Denver in 1983. Since then she has devoted her energies as an Intensive Care Nurse, 1983-1984, a Labor and Delivery Nurse, 1984-1985, and an Operating Room Nurse, 1985-1986, all at PSL; an Ambulatory Surgery Nurse, at EXEMPLA Saint Joseph Hospital, 1986-1992; and most recently in the same role at Kaiser Permanente's Ambulatory Surgery Center. She also worked part-time as a private scrub nurse for Denver-area facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Brent Smith, 1992-1998.

Patsy was a tremendous help to the FTC surgical teams as she packed for and traveled with them to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in March 2005 and April 2006. She brings a spirit of calm, flexibility, and willingness to help any one in need of facial surgery or encouragement. She also brings a tenderness to those who grieve. She became a Victims Advocate for Mothers Against Drunk Drivers (MADD) after her brother, Douglas County, Colorado Sheriff's Deputy, Ron King, was killed by a drunk driver. He was on motorcycle patrol in 1999 when he was mortally wounded. As a result of this loss, Patsy stated:

"I have witnessed God's grace and mercy, and have truly felt His comforting arms around me and my family. He will never let us walk alone. Since this time I have devoted my life to God and living a deeper more meaningful Christian life."

We have seen Patsy show His compassion to many in need and appreciate all her generosity through her kindness and skills. She will continue to be an huge asset to our Board of Directors.
